Texas A&M University and the US Army III Corps will hold a training event for 30 soldiers and 30 students to participate in an Intensive Design Experience (IDE) that will unlock the process of innovation for all participants. It will be accomplished by providing an Innovation Mindset framework and then practicing this by designing and building solutions to problems, III Corps has identified. The result will be that the students and soldiers gain:
- Specific knowledge of the Innovation Process.
- Confidence in their ability to repeat this process in other situations in a short amount of time.
- An understanding of and value the creativity of multidisciplinary teams in solving problems.
- 知道ledge of modern design practices, coupled with access to state of the art prototyping facilities to implement their designs.
- The ability to perform tradeoffs between designs using feasibility, cost, innovation, and deployment criteria as measures.
- Presentation training and experience as they work to present their solution concept to senior leadership who will determine the best overall solution.
Phantom Invent will include a mix of formal training and activities to put into practice the concepts of Innovation and design to solve real world problems. This IDE is held in a competition format, with regularly scheduled deliverables, which will form the basis for purposeful intensity.
