How long does it take to complete the METM degree program?
METM is set up to be completed in 21 months, starting in August of every year and completing 21 months later in May.
Does this program have to be completed in two years? Or can it be spread out a little more, say over 3 or 4 years?
The program is designed as a lock-step 21-month program for working professionals. Students start and finish the program together. It is only four semesters with 2 courses taken each semester and 2 one-week residency in College Station. Before you know it, you are done with your Master of Engineering in Technical Management!
Are there mandatory online class times?
No, the program is delivered asynchronously to provide a maximum level of flexibility for our working professional students.
Do you allow transfer credit? Can I choose what courses I take?
No, all students will follow aset curriculum and degree plan.

How do I apply for METM?
Complete an application through the onlineEngineeringCAS system. The application requires a current resume/CV, 2 essays, and 3 letters of recommendation. The application does not have to be submitted in one session and may be accessed as many times as needed until you are ready to submit.
Am I considered a domestic or international student?
A domestic applicant is a resident or permanent resident of the United States (or applicant for permanent residency). If you do not meet that criteria you are considered an international applicant.
Is there a minimum GPA required?
No, the GPA earned while completing your Bachelor’s degree will have minimal influence over your admission decision.
Am I required to have an Engineering degree?
Preference will be given to STEM majors, however, it is not required. Other majors have been accepted in previous years and we will continue to accept students with non-engineering degrees that now work in a related industry.
Are GRE or GMAT test scores required?

What makes a letter of recommendation effective?
Letters of recommendation are a key factor in the admissions process and are most effective when they meet the following criteria:
- All letters of recommendation should be written by professional supervisors and/or peers
- At least one letter should come from a current or former direct supervisor
- Each letter should cover the following topics:
- The applicant’s professional potential, including strengths and weaknesses
- The applicant’s commitment to success
- Why you are personally recommending the applicant for the METM program
How are the letters of recommendation submitted?
Applicants will provide the evaluators’ contact information through the EngineeringCAS application. An email will be sent to the evaluator with instructions on how to submit their letter of recommendation.
What kind of transcripts are required?
Transcripts from all previously attended universities are required.Unofficialtranscripts may be uploaded for the initial application review process. If selected to enroll in our programofficialtranscripts will need to be submitted to the Texas A&M admissions office.
My transcript is not in English, will you accept it?
If your institution does not issue a transcript in English you must submit the native language transcript with an official English translation. Official translations are prepared by a recognized translation service and include all original seals and/or signatures.
When is the deadline to apply for METM?
Capacity of this program is limited and applications are reviewed in two different rounds. The earlier you can complete your application, the greater the chance you have of being accepted into the program. For specific deadline dates please review ourApply Nowwebpage.
How much does the application cost?
Domestic student applications cost $65. International student applications cost $148.

Am I considered an international student?
An international applicant is any student who is not a U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident.
Will I be eligible for an F-1 or J-1 visa?
No, this is an online distance learning program that does not qualify international students for an F-1 or J-1 visa.

Do I need to complete a Proof of English Proficiency?
If your native language is not English, you are required to submit proof of English proficiency to be eligible for review. If you are a resident of one of the countrieslisted here, you will be exempt from the English proficiency requirement for admission and be considered English Language Proficiency (ELP) Verified.
A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and a minimum TOEFL score (from a test date within two years) of 80 internet-based testing (i-BT) English proficiency can also be demonstrated by:
- A minimum PTE Academic score of 53
- A GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (subject to departmental approval)
- A GMAT Verbal Score of at least 22 (subject to departmental approval)
- Completing all years of a Bachelor's degree or higher at a U.S. accredited university (subject to departmental approval)
- Acquiring alternative verification from the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies via departmental request. An international graduate student holding a master's degree from a U.S. accredited university qualifies for alternative verification.
