Overview
This global opportunity in France provides Texas A&M University students with an in-depth experience in French language, culture, history, government and economics, in addition to their in-class and technical field experiences. The program includes visits to local industry and laboratories at the host university.
Students will also have direct interaction with French students — not only in the classroom, but in a social setting as well. This interaction enhances the cultural experience and gives a distinctive perception of what life in France is really like. This connection with the community makes the program unique. The technical and cultural visits and the interaction with French students will also contribute to the students’ global competency development and preparation for joining the global engineering industry.
The primary location and host university is the campus of Arts et Métiers located in Aix-en-Provence, France. Aix-en-Provence is a vibrant, modestly sized, charming and engaging city in the southern coastal region of France.
Housing is provided in local student dorms. The location provides ready access to the nearby city of Marseille, the French Riviera Mediterranean coast, the southern Alps, and additional destinations throughout Europe. The high-speed train station and Marseille airport are easily reached by bus for leisure travel on the free weekends. Popular places students have visited in recent years include Nice, Cannes and Chamonix (France); Barcelona (Spain); London (England); Edinburg (Scotland); Rome, Venice and Florence (Italy); Munich and Berlin (Germany); and Geneva and Interlaken (Switzerland).
To learn more about this institution, please visit theÉcole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métierswebsite.
Tentative schedule (subject to change):Classes will be held during the weekdays with some evenings and weekends available for industry visits, cultural tours, and excursions.
Highlights of the trip
Texas A&M students will have the opportunity to take a course taught by one of the host university's faculty members, like a traditional exchange. However, what makes this experience so unique is that Aggie students will also get to interact with other Aggie students and faculty from different study abroad programs during cultural tours and industry visits.
Note:All students in this semester exchange program will be expected to participate in all Texas A&M organized program activities as follows:
